Large Group Interventions

Getting organizations to change is a huge challenge, and the older and bigger the organization, the greater the challenge. To compound matters, the usual approaches to organizational change are no longer effective. Traditionally, strategic planning and organizational redesign happen in small groups, of mostly managers, which determine the course of action; meanwhile, the rest of the organization is in the dark. Employees who are not involved in planning from the outset, lack commitment and enthusiasm for the new direction, and many change initiatives flounder on these rocks.

We offer innovative approaches which engage organizations more effectively and achieve greater levels of commitment from employees. Our primary methods involve large groups of participants, representing all levels of the organization.

Search Conference
A participative event during which participants create a desirable future for the organization that they will implement.

Participative Design workshop
A process in which employees redesign the organizational structure to be much more self-managed, with those doing the work coordinating their own work flow.

Open Space Technology
A process in which employees develop their own agenda around a topic of organizational concern, and form action teams to make needed improvements.

Appreciative Design approaches
A philosophy based on the belief that exploring ways an organization has been vital and successful in the past provides a roadmap for improvement. This approach focuses on what works rather than on problems.
